Online Safety
Across society, there is a continuous increase in the use of technology, the applications that are available to download, the technologies available and the development of Artificial Intelligence, which we are still learning more about. As fantastic as technology is for supporting learning, communicating with others, providing E-Commerce, gaming and facilities for entertainment, the risks associated with this continue to emerge and develop.
Below you will find different pages which provide support and guidance linked to Online Safety:
Wake-Up Wednesday: Each Wednesday, the National College publish a colourful, easy-to-follow guide linked to either Online Safety or wider safeguarding matters. The online safety guides provide associated online risks and how to prevent these. These topics can range from video games, apps, websites or mental health risks associated with technology. Safeguarding topic guides not associated to online safety can be found on the academy website under our safeguarding page.
Monthly Newsletter: A two-page document provided at the start of each month. This focusses on various topics linked to emerging threats and trends, alongside providing guidance on how to support your child with using technologies. The newsletter will also signpost you to external websites for additional guidance where appropriate.
Parental Controls: Videos and a how-to-guide which shows parents how to set-up controls on various applications including Google, iOS, Android, Social Media, Games and YouTube.
External Websites: A range of links to external trusted websites where you can find further guidance and advice about Online Safety.
